Katharina Gruzei works with photography, film, video, installations, performances in media transfer, sound and objects. According to her concepts, she experiments between these fields and convinces with her unique visual language.

Gruzei's interest lies in the use of the media as a political as well as a sociological - cultural tool. With her visual strategies, she decodes the "made-up" and ideology of images. Her research begins with individual images and often ends in archives. Using found material, she unfolds cultural history as a field of investigation for artistic debate, into which she weaves her views and thoughts.

Her videos and photographs show us a particular interest in the boundary between still and moving images. Her imagery explores the potential for resistance and empowerment within visual practices. Individual projects convey her artistic field research in the area of ​​social hotspots, which she often reconstructs as room installations afterwards.
