Edgar Honetschläger is an artist, filmmaker and environmental activist. His work, determined by anthropology and history, focusses on questioning cultural givens, the concept of individualism and man’s concept of nature. A recurring theme is an ongoing fight against central perspective. Founder of a film company and the NGO gobugsgo.org he spent four years in the US, twelve years in Japan, five years in Italy and one in Brazil. Currently he works in Rome and Vienna.
1997 he participated in Documenta X, 1998 he presented his first feature film MILK at the Berlinale. Solo shows at Mudam Luxemburg, Macro Testaccio Roma, Belvedere 21er Haus Vienna, Sagatcho Exhibit Space Tokyo, Kunsthallen Brandts Odense Denmark, Kunsthalle Krems, Oberösterreichisches Landesmuseum Linz. His work is in permanent collections like Minato Mirai Yokohama, Mudam Luxemburg, Albertina Vienna, IBM, Museum of Modern Art Salzburg, Bank Austria Vienna, Collection of the government of Austria, T-Mobile and Red Bull.
